Introduced to promote high standards in the residential conveyancing process, the CQS requires law firms to undergo rigorous assessment by the Law Society to confirm that they meet those high standards. Membership of the scheme includes compulsory training, self reporting, random audits and annual reviews in order to maintain CQS status. It is only open to members of the Law Society and to those who meet the demanding high standards set by the Law Society. It is supported and recognised by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Land Registry, the Building Societies Association, the Legal Ombudsman and the Association of British Insurers.
With the CQS, there is now a strong and genuine kite mark for quality conveyancing services. Alongside the new Conveyancing Protocol, which encourages a proactive approach to conveyancing, this should ensure that the home buying and selling process is as quick and smooth as possible.”
